"As a child, I loved drawing and painting. One time, when I was 10 years old, I was drawing and then, from nowhere, SOMETHING SPECIAL HAPPENED. Everything was perfect, just the way it was! Happiness flooded over me.
Right after that, I drew the scene over and over, wanting to capture the experience forever.
That’s when I decided that I was going to be an artist. How amazing would it be, I thought, if I could make that happen again?
Over time, I gave up the idea and chose a ‘safe’ career. I have always kept a longing to be more creative, but life became regimented, and I was boxed into a busy routine, which made it hard to imagine other possibilities.
Secretly I’ve been chasing that special feeling ever since!
In my early 20s, out of the blue, it happened again.
Then, in 2022, it happened in Jan’s first class!
It was very exciting but, at first, very challenging to even attempt drawing in the EMP classes because my ‘inner critic’ was working at full volume with all sorts of negative comments.
Jan's an expert at helping you silence your inner critic and handle errors without taking them personally.
Drawing faces? ‘I’ll never be able to do that,’ I thought. But looking back at my drawings, I’m amazed at the results!
I especially liked being able to choose an emotion to express and have it show up in my picture! That’s opened my eyes a lot and given me so much confidence.
I am currently experimenting with acrylic painting [see background pic in collage] and am also enrolled in a fine art course starting soon.
Extraordinary Mind Project is different because it guides you to expand your creativity beyond drawing and opens your mind to possibilities outside the usual focus of everyday life.
It was the perfect solution to snap me out of my auto-pilot life and focus on a different path that is much more exciting!"
